Verb be — am / is / are

be = hona. Yeh ek verb hai (kaam/hona wala word). Present (abhi/aaj) me teen words: am, is, are.

1. Kya hai

be naam, umar, kaam, feeling (kaisa lagna), jagah batata hai. Hindi me aksar "hai / hoon / hain" — English me subject (karta: I, she, Ravi) ke hisaab se word badalta hai.

Use Example
Naam / kaun hai I am Kabir. She is a teacher.

was / were = past — topic 09. There is / there are — topic 15. I am going (abhi ho raha) — topic 08. Abhi sirf am / is / are.

2. Kaun sa word: am / is / are

Singular noun (ek naam) is The bag is new.
Plural noun (zyada naam) are The bags are new.

it's = it is. its (uska, bina apostrophe) baad me aayega.

3. Negative (nahi) aur question (sawal)

Hindi note. Hindi me "hai" kai karta ke saath chal jaata hai. English me hamesha yahi: I am, he/she/it is, you/we/they are. be ke baad seedha go / eat mat lagao: I am go galat. Abhi: I am happy (feeling/naam). Jaana yeh baad me: topic 07/08.
