Simple past — irregular verbs

Irregular past = go → went jaise, -ed nahi. Regular -ed = topic 10. was / were = topic 09. gone / eaten (have ke saath) = topic 32.

1. Kya hai

Matlab wahi: kal / last week ka kaam. Form alag hai — yaad karni padti hai. I/you/he/she/they — same past: I went. She went.

Negative (nahi wali) I didn't play. I didn't go. (asal verb, went nahi)

2. didn't / Did + asal verb

Haan wali line me irregular form (went, ate). Nahi / sawal me did + asal verb (jaise go, eat) — didn't went / Did you ate? galat.

Positive Negative Question
I went home. I didn't go home. Did you go home?
She ate rice. She didn't eat rice. Did she eat rice?
They bought mangoes. They didn't buy mangoes. Did they buy mangoes?

Chhota jawab: Yes, I did. / No, she didn't. (Poora sentence Yes, I went alag hai.)

be alag: I was at home. Were you tired? (09). could = topic 27. Future = topic 23.

3. Roz ke verbs

Asal verb → kal ka form. gone, eaten, seen abhi nahi (topic 32).

Same form: put → put, cut → cut, hit → hit, let → let, cost → cost, hurt → hurt. British: learn → learnt (American aksar learned).

buy → bought aur bring → brought alag hain — gadbad mat karo. American gotten yahan nahi (woh topic 32).
